Plants obviously spawn from the ground and can regrow but crystal and those green blobs on swamp trees do not regrow. Since golems respawn I doubt Irongate will make the crystals respawn in caves.

As it stands right now, everything in 500m radius (100m is 50 wooden beams) from where you have been in your world, is considered explored, and won't have new content when new update comes up (unless devs change something).

They’re a bit of a massive pain to find, atleast for me i went through quite a few new mountain biomes before i even saw 1. Probably easiest to start a new world and look up the map seed beforehand. Have a good sense of where the largest mountains are before heading out on a longship.
